About the Canvas & Padding

The canvas tool changes the space around an image. It adds padding or a border on any side with a colour of your choice, extends the canvas to a target size, and can trim plain or transparent edges automatically, which is useful for product photos, logos and app store screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a white border around a photo?
Open Canvas, enter the same padding on every side and set the background colour to white.
Can it remove empty space around a logo?
Yes. Trim removes plain or transparent edges before any padding is added.
Are my images uploaded or stored?
Each image is sent over HTTPS to the Image Tools server, processed in memory with the sharp image library and returned straight to your browser. Files are not saved, logged or shared, and nothing is kept after the response is sent.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark on your results and no daily quota. Open the page, add your images and download the output.
