About the Image Compressor

The image compressor reduces the file size of JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images while keeping them visually close to the original. It re-encodes the image at a lower quality, can keep the original format, strips hidden metadata, and supports palette PNGs and lossless modes for the best size-to-quality balance.

How to use it

  1. Add the images you want to make smaller.
  2. Open the Minify tab; it keeps the format and sets a web-friendly quality.
  3. Lower the quality slider for smaller files, or switch to WebP or AVIF for the biggest savings.
  4. Compare the original and output sizes, then download the result or the whole batch as a ZIP.

Features

  • Keep the same format or switch to WebP/AVIF
  • Quality and compression effort sliders
  • PNG palette mode for much smaller PNGs
  • Removes EXIF metadata by default
  • Before and after file size comparison

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Photos saved at high quality often shrink by half or more at quality 70-80, and converting JPG or PNG to WebP or AVIF usually saves more. The tool shows the original and output size so you can compare.
Does compression reduce image quality?
Lossy compression removes detail you mostly cannot see. Keep quality around 75-85 for photos; use Lossless or PNG palette mode when you need exact pixels.
What is the best format for smaller images?
AVIF usually gives the smallest files, followed by WebP. Both are supported by modern browsers.
Are my images uploaded or stored?
Each image is sent over HTTPS to the Image Tools server, processed in memory with the sharp image library and returned straight to your browser. Files are not saved, logged or shared, and nothing is kept after the response is sent.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark on your results and no daily quota. Open the page, add your images and download the output.
