The UUID Generator creates universally unique identifiers in your browser. Generate random version 4 UUIDs, time-based version 1 UUIDs or the nil UUID, one at a time or in bulk, and copy them as a list for database primary keys, API test fixtures, idempotency keys or seed data.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between UUID v1 and v4?
Version 1 UUIDs are built from a timestamp and node value, so they sort roughly by creation time. Version 4 UUIDs are random, which makes them the usual choice for IDs that must not reveal when they were created.
Can two v4 UUIDs collide?
In practice, no. A v4 UUID has 122 random bits, so you would need to generate billions per second for many years before a collision became likely.
Is a UUID the same as a GUID?
Yes. GUID is Microsoft's name for the same 128-bit identifier format defined in RFC 9562 (formerly RFC 4122).
