About Compress PDF
Compress PDF is a free online tool that rewrites a PDF with compact object streams to reduce its file size, directly in your browser. It shows the original and new size so you can compare. It does not downsample embedded images, so savings are largest on text-heavy and structurally bloated files.

Frequently asked questions
Is Compress PDF free?
Yes. Compress PDF is completely free, with no account, no sign-up, no watermark added to your files and no daily limit.
Are my files uploaded when I use Compress PDF?
No. The PDF is opened and processed inside your browser with JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device and is not stored on any server.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on the file. The tool rewrites the PDF structure with object streams, which helps most with text-heavy or poorly saved files. Scanned PDFs made mostly of large images may shrink only a little because images are not recompressed.
Will compressing reduce quality?
No. Pages, text and images are kept as they are; only the internal structure of the file is rewritten.
Is there a file size limit?
Each PDF can be up to 50 MB. Because processing happens on your device, very large or image-heavy files may take longer on older phones and laptops.
