Frequently asked questions

Is Annotate PDF free?

Yes. Annotate PDF is completely free, with no account, no sign-up, no watermark added to your files and no daily limit.

Are my files uploaded when I use Annotate PDF?

No. The PDF is opened and processed inside your browser with JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device and is not stored on any server.

Does the redaction block permanently remove text?

No. It draws a solid box over the area, which hides it visually, but the original text can still exist underneath. Do not rely on it for legally sensitive redaction.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on desktop, Android and iOS. Nothing needs to be installed.
