About Protect PDF

Protect PDF will add a password and permission settings to a PDF. Reliable PDF encryption needs a dedicated engine that is not enabled yet, so the tool currently only reviews the settings and produces a report. It does not encrypt your file.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool encrypt my PDF?

Not yet. It only produces a settings report. Do not rely on it to protect sensitive documents until encryption is enabled.

Are my files uploaded when I use Protect PDF?

No. The PDF is opened and processed inside your browser with JavaScript, so the file never leaves your device and is not stored on any server.
